 Band "Breeze"
The band "Breeze" had six members; four Zambian youngsters and a Congolese musician, Stephen Mangi, who had immigrated to Zambia. Stephen was the band leader and I joined them in 1999. Stephen was my first drum teacher for both African drums and modern drum sets.

Through my guitar and African drum teacher in Lusaka, Kizito Like, I joined the band Zamakengo in 2004. Zamakengo's members came from Zambia, Kenya, DR Congo, England, America, Denmark and Taiwan.
We played a mixture of 60s-80s rock & roll, blues, funk, and world music, and performed many different places around Lusaka such as private parties, hotels, restaurants, embassy functions, different ministerial functions and festivals.

The Big Six Gold Band has exsisted for more than 30 years in Zambia. They are permanently engaged at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka where they perform four evenings per week. In the beginning of 2005 I joined the band and played percussions and recorder. Occasionally the band also performed at private functions and festivals.
In 2006, Jack Sakala, the bands keyboard player, and I joined hands in a cross-cultural music project. We wanted to explore the combination of Zambian and Chinese rhytms and a mixture of instruments - recorder, percussion, guitar, drums etc. in new ways. We composed our own texts and melodies and made the recordings and mixing ourselves.
The result was our CD, "Jungle Feast " 🙂, now on sale at Sounds, a well known music store in Zambia. Sounds has branches in several cities around the country. This year Jack will present the CD at the annual Ngoma Awards Festival, the Zambian equivalent of the Grammy Award for theater, poetry, painting, sculpture and music.
